I am 23 years old. To some that is old. But to a much greater majority, that is very young. To me.....it is weird. I have no idea how to be 23. I am still a kid, but am expected to be an adult at the same time. Being forced into this strange new middle ground has had some strange effects on my personality and life. As I creep towards the unavoidable number of 24, I find myself a much calmer person than I would expect...and possibly that my past would suggest. I find myself in a good mood almost every second of every day. I deal with a terrifying level of incompetence from this cities finest health care professionals on a daily basis...and yet...
I smile, and I laugh. I am happy all day...with the occasional blip of course, but for the most part I find no reason to be sad. For some people I suppose this is no feat at all. But to me, it is wonderfully surprising. Even on the worst of days, I leave the office and I am smiling by the time I hit Airport Blvd (which for those of you unfamiliar with Mobile geography is approximately .2 miles from my office). So I suppose I should be thankful for my aging process. It has brought me to some kind of understanding of the world that allows me to push past the piles of weird and meaningless things that used to effect me, and smile. So thanks.....uh....clocks and calenders. And thanks to Megan, and my parents and brothers and friends, who all have shaped me into this person I am. I am completely satisfied with who I am now, and who I know I will become in the few years ahead of me. You have all set me on this path...
That all being said, time has taken one thing from me that I used to enjoy a great deal.
Writing.
I used to write all the time. I have notebooks of things I just wrote (no, not a diary). I would just write stories, small books almost.....really small books. I would write songs and yes, even poems. It seems strange I am sure, but I would just sit and write. I loved it. Unfortunately for my GPA's sake, a lot of this writing took place in classrooms. I used to write stories and other things like that and email them to my old English teachers, and have them critique them.
I miss that.
So I have decided that I will resume my writing...here...in this blog.
It may not always make sense, and it will probably never be great, but I will at least get back to doing something I love. SO i guess so long Mobile Tuna...And I will be back tomorrow...

Oh Patrick, you are so full of Mekrob!
Well, its January 5th.....of 2010. Ten years into the new decade, and it still doesn't seem like the 90's were that long ago. Weird stuff eh? Oh well, moving on..
So I got to go home for Christmas, which was fantastic! I got to see all my friends and family, and got to play a sweet game of Hell Hole football. My team won of course, thanks in large part to myself, but also to a disgusting pick six to end the game by loyal follower of the Mobile Tuna, Patrick Hughes. John A Cox also had an impressive game, as he had at least 3 interceptions, including 2 taken back for touchdowns. It was exactly what I wanted it to be. I love football.
Back in Mobile, it was back to work on Monday. 4 days of work, and then New Years. The week of course crept by, with each day seeming to go by slower than the last. It was agonizing! Call after call, shift filled after shift filled....it was so boring! Finally I left for the weekend and went home to prepare for celebrating New Years. Drew Adams came into town for the weekend, and we had ourselves a throw down that will go down in history. We spent all night on Thursday drinking and hanging out at the apartment, and eventually spent about 3 hours taking shots and hanging out with our neighbors whom we had never talked to before. They are all from Chile and speak some broken English, but it was a fantastic time! We found ourselves some fun new friends that night, and I actually hung out with them a bit the next day as well. We went to bed after five, but good Lord it was awesome.
The next night, me Jro, Hostyle, Dizzy, Dan and Bob played an absolutely epic game of monopoly. We were playing with teams, and it got intense! We were playing until around 2:30 am, until Catie and Megan came over, and Catie ended up spilling my Irish Coffee (You have to drink coffee when conducting business!) all over the board, effectively ending the game and ruining the board. We ended that night at Ihop.
The next night we were hanging out at Patty O'Tooles, an Irish bar around the corner from my house, playing pool and taking shots. Another good night!
This week however, I have paid dearly for my long weekend, as I have been completely miserable at work. And of course, as fate would have it, I have had to stay until 8 on Monday, and 7 today! It's been rough, but it is gonna be the weekend soon enough I suppose. I am heading to the GMAC bowl tomorrow with some buddies, and will be freezing cold....but I will get to see Dan Lefevour play some football! So that is something to look forward to.
I can't wait to get home to Atlanta again, cause being home for holidays made me realize how much I missed it...

Hot Off the Presses!!!
SOOOO there has been an insane amount of demand for my next blog posting. I realize that you all find my life incredibly interesting, but you have to understand. When you live the kind of life I do. It leaves very little time for blogging...or the rest of the internet world for that matter. That being said, let me update you on what has been going on in my life lately.
First off, I got a new job. No more Minor League Baseball for me. For those of whom to which it is news that I even had a job, I do/did. I used to work as the head groundskeeper for the Mobile Baybears (the AA affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks, located in Mobile, AL). I worked with them for three years, and it was a hell of a time. But now it is on to real life, and the real world. I now work for a medical staffing in Mobile. It has been about four weeks now, and it is actually pretty fun. The hours suck (8-6, and on call 24/7), but it is challenging and exciting....so ....awesome?
Secondly, I am in hot pursuit of a puppy. I have been pushing everyone around me, Megan, my parents, my roomates etc. to get on board with the idea of me getting a puppy. And no one will do so!!!! I am on a freakin island here! Has everyone else lost their minds? John Cox has a dog, Taylor Humphries has a dog, Cat and Mike have a dog, Hilley's girlfriend has a dog....why am I so dsicriminated against? Why must I be treated as a leper??
Thirdly....I don't do a lot else. I recently found out that I will be able to come home for Christmas (hooray!). And seeing how I missed Thanksgiving, I am pretty excited about this. I had to miss one of my favorite traditions of all time, the Hell Hole football game, played annually during the Thanksgiving season (there is not really a set date for it yet...). BUT, I am pushing hard to have a game over Christmas as well, so hopefully I will get to play at least once this year. Last year I had recently undergone knee surgery to repair a torn ligament...so I was relegated to QB, and could not really run. I still threw a bunch of TD passes, and actually had 2 interceptions.
So yea, that's my life....don't miss my next post (no set date yet), which will be covering that big orange thing in the sky, and what we can all do to please it.
still working on a sign off....lets see here
..one love...
nope, that one makes me feel like a gay hippie (eh Cox???)
eh, Ill keep working on it...for now

Strange Times at work
Ok......So, I work for the Mobile Baybears, a minor league baseball team affiliated with the Arizona Diamondbacks, as the Head Groundskeeper. Recently, since the season ended, I have been moved to part time groundskeeper and part time salesman. It is very.......whats the word.....interesting. The job can be boring at times, because I am not allowed to sell a lot of the stuff. So I spend a lot of time wandering around with my buddy Jason, and today we stumbled upon an interesting topic.....which endagered animal would taste good on the grill? Or in the steamer.....oven maybe?
You get the point. But I have been completely consumed with this topic all day long. And I have come to absolutely no conclusion. So I want anyone who reads this to think about it.....even though I am pretty sure it is just Megan

Beer Fest
So in Mobile, they hold an annual Beer festival downtown on Dauphin street every year. This is the first year that I am not working at the stadium and am of age to be able to attend this little event, so I am excited. It promises to be a clustering of drunken people drinking a lot of beer from all over the world. I plan to drink from at least 6 different continents tonight....lets see.....
first of all, I want something from Asia, and something from Africa. I am not sure what the most prominent African beer is.....is there one? I am gonna have to google that.
Secondly, or thirdly I guess, I want a South American beer, maybe something Brazilian
And of course, I want some of the old favorites, Guinness, Sweetwater and so on.
So wish me luck on my international quest of intoxication....I will need it

The Woman I love....
Is a crazy person! Haha
Ok, so she is a lot of other things as well, but right now, she is a crazy person. Apparently she has been obsessing over the background on her blog for about three days now, and it has been affecting her sleep. Its kind of cute in a way, and I can't help but laugh. She is on the cusp of discovering the secret to making a blog background, and she has had several laugh attacks throughout the half hour we have been working on it.
But onto other things she is;
aheem.......
The woman I love is...incredibly funny
The woman I love is...the sweetest person I have ever known
The woman I love is...Beautiful, and able to be elegant and a complete goofball at the same time
The woman I love is...a diabolical genius
The woman I love is...an inspiration to everything I do in life
The woman I love is...a shining example of everything I want and aspire to be
The woman I love is...strangely obsessive about certain things....example 1 - certain movies like dan in real life, marley and me and p.s. i love you
The woman I love...is an ever changing surprise that I look forward to every day
She got my hair cut today, and blogged about it on her site......God I love that woman......

Its been awhile, suppose I am not great at this whole blogging thing. Just finished with the eighth game of a ten game homestand for the old Mobile Bay Bears. It has been hot and rainy the entire time. It has been awhile since I have been this tired....probably since the last ten gamer we had. Anyways, for those of you interested in the Bay Bears records and such, they suck, and continue to lose. Although we have won three straight now, and to be fair, we have had a ton of people get called up, five in all, including a coach.
Well, I think it is all but official that I will be in Mobile for at least another year, probably working for the Bay Bears the whole way around. Its not so bad, I would actually encourage people to move here if they asked, but no one ever does. It is quite nice to be warm all the time. Heading to the beach this weekend for a much deserved break I think.
I also got bored today and made a facebook page for my cat. I think that officially makes me creepy....oh well
